Casing in API Standard

Casing strings are the main parts of the well construction. All wells drilled for the purpose of oil or gas production (or injecting materials into underground formations) must be cased with material with sufficient strength and functionality.

Casing is the major structural component of a well. The cost of casing is a major part of the overall well cost, so selection of casing size, grade, connectors, and setting depth is a primary engineering and economic consideration.

With facilities in Wuxi China and Cangzhou China, Glory Tube can offer our clients worldwide the best possible pricing and expedited manner for OCTG casing and tubing with consistent high quality. From high pressure high temperature wells to sour gas applications, Glory Tube can offer the complete range of sizes and grades to suit every purpose.

Glory Tube can provide a full range of sizes and grades for every application.

Size of Casing
Outer diameter (OD): Φ114.30mm ~ Φ508mm
Wall thickness (WT): 5.21mm ~ 22.2mm

API series casing refers to the steel pipe produced as per API SPEC 5CT of the American Petroleum Institute (API), which is used for the exploitation of petroleum oil or natural gas and other resources.

Glory Tube is ideally positioned to deliver API and premium threaded casing.

Glory Tube provides a complete service throughout the tubular cycle, combining the provision of tubulars, threaded accessories and connection threading. These items are critical to every stage of the exploration and production process.

The casing and tubing in API standard provided by Glory Tube strictly follows the API 5CT standard in terms of quality control such as chemical composition, mechanical properties, and dimensional accuracy. Within the scope of the standard, all control indicators are tightened to make the performance more stable and the quality more reliable.

In terms of composition control, strict internal control requirements are implemented, and the P and S control levels of physical smelting are far stricter than the standard requirements of API 5CT. For products with corrosion resistance requirements, the strength range is strictly controlled, and the actual control level is near the midline of the strength requirements. For other steel grades, the yield strength control level is at the upper limit of the strength requirement range; in addition, the toughness performance of the material is much higher than the API 5CT standard requirement. Through the control of strength and toughness, the physical performance of the casing and tubing is guaranteed.
